All play will be governed by U.S.G.A. rules, with the following exceptions:
BREAKFAST BALL - Every player has the option to hit a second tee shot on the first hole of the day. However, if you choose to hit a second tee shot, you MUST play it. You are not permitted to play the best one of the two. No other "Mulligans" will be permitted.
IMPROVED LIES - "Lift, Clean, and Place" or "Fluffing" will be permitted at all times. Every player is permitted to clean their ball and place it on the best possible spot within a club-head or so, not to improve line of sight or swing of where their ball was originally at rest. You may NOT move it from rough to fairway, or vise versa. NO-TOUCH in bunkers, unless you are in a footprint or soaking wet sand.
Although some golfers may not like this rule, we play this way because it is the best for gambling. Tricky relief situations and cheating are eliminated. Also, there is nothing I hate more than when I (or my competitor) gets screwed by an unfortunate lie. I’d rather be able to tell my competitor to take fair relief, than make them play from a bad lie. Golf is hard enough. Even if your ball is sitting perfect, you still have to hit the shot. As long as everyone gets to do it, what’s the difference? Plus, most guys that I play with don’t even carry a rulebook. How do you correctly take relief in tricky situations if you don’t have a rulebook to refer to?
Out of Bounds (white staked areas) - You may NOT play your ball from Out of Bounds. You must (1) re-hit from the original spot, or (2) drop your ball within two club lengths from the point that your ball crossed the Out of Bounds line. Both options carry a penalty of one stroke.
"Woods & Weeds" (non-staked) - If you deem your ball "lost" or "unplayable" in non-staked woods or weeds, you must (1) re-hit from the original spot, or (2) drop your ball within two club lengths from the point that your ball entered the "Woods or Weeds" like it were staked. Both options carry a penalty of one stroke. You should use the trunks of the outermost trees as stakes to determine the hazard line. You must drop within two club lengths of this line. You get relief from over-hanging tree limbs, however, you do not get relief from tree limbs that are further down the tree line.
Lost Ball, but NOT in a Hazard - Whenever you lose your ball due to thick rough, darkness, stuck in a free-standing tree, etc…, you must (1) re-hit from the spot that you last hit from or (2) drop as near the spot that your ball was last seen or suspected to be. Both options carry a penalty of one shot.
Exceptions to this rule: #1 Plugged Balls, #2 Leaves, #3 Picked-up or Played by someone else. If it is determined by you and your playing partners that your ball is DEFINITELY lost due to one of these 3 reasons, you may drop in the area that your ball was last believed to be WITHOUT penalty.
MAN-MADE OBJECTS - Whenever you hit your ball near a man-made object (i.e. a fence, a post, a garbage can, cart path, sprinkler head, drainage grate, flower beds, etc…) you may take complete relief. You may take the relief if the object hinders your stance, swing, or line of sight. You are to move your ball to the spot that is the NEAREST point of complete relief.
2-MAN Scrambles ONLY – Players should mark the spot of the ball that they choose to play, then both players may place their ball within one club-length of the marked spot, no closer to the hole. You MAY move your ball from rough to fairway, fairway to rough, or out of water or OB (if it’s close enough), but you may NOT move it out of bunkers.
